Reasons to Hate: Getting too Much Credit

Some people have really big egos.  I mean, I bet there are people out there who would go so far as to proclaim themselves a genius with no basis.  Whenever you give yourself too much credit, there are bound to be people who hate you for no other reason than that.  But I think that's not very surprising news to most people.

If you were extremely humble, I think most people would support you, but eventually someone would criticize you for being too humble, and probably not actually because you were humble, but because people were praising you for it.  People also seem to hate it when other people give you more credit than they think you deserve.

For example, most people wouldn't hate a guy just for being young and allegedly singing like a girl, I mean, wouldn't that be weird: "That guy hasn't hit puberty yet and he sings like a girl.  HE DESERVES TO BE PUSHED OFF A CLIFF!!!"  Yeah I think that would be a strange reason to hate someone.  But then you look at Justin Bieber hate pages and it seems as if being "boring" and "singing soo bad" and having a not manly voice are the most horrible things in the world.  They aren't though.  If you're a young boy with a high-pitched voice, you don't have to worry about people wishing for your death: I'm pretty sure people just hate Justin Bieber because he gets so much more than they believe he deserves.

It happens a lot, probably more than people realize.  I mean, why else would you hate a fighting gamer from Japan who you don't even know, or call a random song about the day of the week the absolute worst song ever?

The problem is, deserve is a tough concept.  But, that's another topic I suppose.
